The ACT Program staff established ACT Nurses' Day to recognize nurses statewide who work to improve and save the lives of cardiovascular patients on a daily basis. This full-day program of continuing education is provided by the physicians, nurses and staff of the Arizona Heart Hospital.

  • Explain endovascular management of thoracic pathologies
  • Name the classifications of aortic-iliac occlusive disease
  • Identify different surgical strategies for coronary revascularization
  • List the interventional, surgical, and medical treatment options for patients with coronary artery disease
  • Describe the differences in the findings of diagnostic tests for coronary artery disease and their possible causes
  • Discuss how thromboelastography (TEG) with platelet mapping is used to understand patient hemostasis
  • Identify four indications and contraindications for intra-aortic balloon pumping
  • Identify the advantages and limitations of CT coronary angiography in the detection of coronary artery disease compared to invasive angiography
  • Compare different types of insulin used today
  • Describe how to motivate patients toward a heart healthy lifestyle
